I've got a job!

Finally i got off my ass and found a job.
I'm working in a juice bar in a shopping center over Christmas and new year which should be enough money to get to Tasmania in January. well that's the plan at the moment anyway.

erm for the last month i haven't really been doing anything! I worked at a juice bar at the Earthcore festival last weekend. That was pretty cool it wasn't nearly as busy as they were expecting so basically got free tickets for a festival and worked 12 hours over the whole weekend. The music was amazing it was all psy-trance, not nearly as doof doof-ie as i expected. it was pretty cool to be out in the bush looking at the stars with no light pollution and watching lightning storms in the next valley through weird green laser shows, all good.

I got a lift home with 2 stoners, they were pretty groovy till we got stopped by the police and it turned out neither of them had a drivers licence. i love how the police man just gave them a ticket and let them drive away, surly that defies logic somehow. there was the other small problem that the fuel light was on before we left camp and it was more that 40km to the fuel station. but all was good in the end.

it's getting quite hot here, with lots of big storms in the evenings. it's actually quite nice when the rain lashes down it takes the heat out of the night. the heat isn't too bad yet but people, especially old drunk men on trains, keep telling me it's only going to get hotter. :)
i have a tan, although my legs are still appalling, i burnt them and hey still didn't go brown. they seem tan resistant, maybe it's just that sheland skin not really sure what this sun thing is.
i think the reason that queensland is having water shortages is because i'm having to have at least 3 showers a day, your only allowed to water the garden on certain days but i can never remember which days are mine so i just do it in the dead of night and hope the neighbours don't dob me in.

I've done all my Christmas Shopping! how very un me to be so organised! well kinda done, i've got for my nieces stuff from Amazon which is being delivered to Shetland and my lovely sister helne will wrap it all, but it should be ok as everything is square or rectangular shaped. i quite like wrapping square things. i always wondered why they didn't put the letters q and u next to each other on a key board? who choose where the keys went anyway? i've still got to get Geoffrey something, anybody got any suggestions?

right off to make tea, i'm having stir fry. yummo

hope your all managing to fight the shopping hoards on Princes st and wrapping up warm if your even further afield.

Have a Fantastic Christmas and Drunken New Year, Catch up with you all in 2006, let me know where your at and what your up to.

love Susie

Yippie

i just found my watch!!!!
:) :) :) :) :)

very very very happy.

and in the style of all lost things it turned up under my bed. so i didn't lose it in a pub when i was very drunk as i guessed i must have.

for those of you who escaped my weeks of bitter complaining that my wonderful watch was lost be thankful that now it has been found.

I'm sure you have all seen my watch, nobody i meet escapes without meeting my watch at some point. it has two dancing men on it who dance out the seconds as they pass.

Right.

hello

I'm back in Brisbane.
it's nice here, i have a bedroom all to myself and for the last two days me and Geoffrey have been fighting with his old computer which till my arrival had been relegated to the back of a cupboard. I think it was enjoying life in the cupboard and thinks that if it doesn't co-operate we will let it go back there to sleep again. or maybe it just doesn't like me. it is refusing to acknowledge that the Internet exists, in fact for a while it was refusing to acknowledge that it existed. but now it has a sense of self it doesn't want to talk to the hub, or the laptop. in fact it quite likes it's own company and wishes we would just let it crash in peace. probably it will win.

Diving in Cains was fantastic, went again in the Whitsundays and saw even more fish, the Whitsundays were beautiful white sand and the clearest water I've ever seen, did a 4x4 adventure thing on Fraser island on the way back which was cool apart from when it was raining, the tents leaked and I'm still finding sand in the bottom of my rucksack.

I'm job hunting, well pretending to job hunt at the moment, I've signed up to lots of agencies and if i hear nothing in a week I've got to take a more active stance and actually go and find a job for myself. unfortunately my week runs out in 2 days. hmmmm.
not much news here really, the passion fruit are ripe and we get about 5 or 6 a day, yummy breakfast. everything else is still green or growing. anyhoo I'd better go stop Geoffrey smashing the computer with a sledge hammer.

hope your all well.

Ouch!

i just got bitten by an ant. the little bastard.

don't know what he thought he would gain by biting me? grrrr. it didn't hurt it just made me stop sitting on the grass.

anyhoo, hello

I'm still in Brisbane staying at my brothers, we have been painting downstairs for the last couple of days, think i got more paint on me than the walls. Geoffrey gave me easy big bits of wall to do with the roller while he did the filling in of all the fiddly bits around light switches and stuff.

I've actually been really productive this week I've explored around here a bit, saw my first lizard in the Boondall wetlands just up the coast from here and a kookaburra but still no kangaroo's or wallabies, I've explored Brisbane city, aka been shopping, and booked a trip to cairns to learn to dive. I don't go for a couple of weeks but I'm quite excited, staying on a boat on the reef for 3 days maybe i will see a shark.

I hope your all having a fantastic weekend,

my first big mass e-mail

hello

i've made it to australia, it's not nearly so hard as i expected. i didn't get lost in singapore and it was remarkably cold in brisbane when i stepped off the airoplane so no melting just yet.

We stopped along dubai for 4 nights on the way out here. it was REALLY hot, 40 degrees and 80% humidity, you could hardly breath. the sea temp was 38 degrees a bit like a warm bath. (hard to think that it's the same sea that's freezing it's way around shetland). dubai was amazing i counted 24 sky scrapers being built within about 500 meters from our hotel, it's like they are building a city all in one go, i'd like to go back in a few years and see if they are finished.

The hotel was super swish, i already told most of you that we'd paid too much but it was well worth it, it certainly got the holiday off to a great start what with the free bar, and refrigerated pool, we could have stayed there all holiday. but the city of dubai was really groovy, old wooden fishing dhows parked next to sky scrapers. i liked it.

it's nice to be in brisbane and not doing anything, just been exploring goeffrey's house and pottering in the garden, making sure i get plenty of afternoon naps when it's too hot to do stuff, but
really will have to get organised next week and actually get my passport stamped and stuff. bah! humbug!.

best go raid the fridge for tea, hope your all keeping well,

e-mail me and tell me how everything is, geoffrey has unlimited broadband and i'm addicted.
